Contract Management Begins

before the Contract

A contract is a binding agreement between the parties, but it is practically impossible to carry out construction work or to develop an Engineering Project and stay exactly within the established parameters.

Geological or climate changes, changes in legislation or in the costs of materials, deadline changes or modifications in certain aspects of a project, delays in area clearance or in obtaining environmental licenses, among so many other reasons, will always demand detailed follow-up and permanent contract review. This is why Contract Management is absolutely necessary.

The participation of an expert with broad experience in Contract Management, encompassing the phases of prospecting, negotiations and Contract development, already avoids a number of problems that could arise over the long run of a Project’s development.

While carrying out construction work, complete and detailed planning, and the continuous and organized recording of work in the log book are essential so that the basic objective of the activity may be carried out:

To make it such that the will of the parties is complied with and, thus, to maintain the economic and financial balance of the enterprise, reaching the intended Result.

	A civil engineer with a degree from the Polytechnic School of Pernambuco, with graduate studies in business administration from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation School of Business in São Paulo. He was a professor at the School of Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and State Superintendent of Works. He worked many years at Camargo Corrêa, having been its first Contract Management manager. He has already engaged in arbitration and court claims as arbitrator and/or as a technical assistant.				A civil engineer with a degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), with graduate studies in business administration from the UCBA. He was construction manager at Camargo Corrêa, superintendent director of the A. Azevedo construction company and of the UNICON-RN Consortium. He was the Municipal Secretary of Works - SEMOV with the Natal city government, the Municipal Secretary of Transportation and Urban Transit – STTU, and the President of URBANA – Urban Services Authority of Natal. In the state government, he was the President of COHAB/RN – Housing Authority of Rio Grande do Norte.
